This Uncomfortable Looking Amethyst Office Chair?

A Japanese semiprecious stone processing company is offering a chair made from a massive L-shape piece of amethyst for 450,000 yen, which is around RM14,941!

After photos of the chair went viral, the Saitama-based retailer that specialises in semiprecious stones issues a statement to make it clear that the three photos are in fact real, rather than a photoshopped meme or a “torture device,” as what netizens have described it.

Although many people believed it to be a joke rather than a real office chair, the company insists that you can actually sit on it.

According to Oddity Central, Koichi Hasegawa, founder and owner of the company revealed that he had the concept of the unusual-looking office chair while he was in the United States in search of natural stones to bring back to Japan.

He then immediately imagined the huge, L-shape piece of amethyst being processed into a chair and decided to move forward with the idea, and claimed that the amethyst is comfortable despite having the pointy shards.

The chair is made up of amethysts that are supported by a metal frame, which he claims is strong enough to even “support a sumo wrestler.”

office chair isn’t the lightest as you might expect, so it’s a good thing there’s wheels so it can be rolled around if you need to move it because that huge piece of semiprecious stone weights at least 88 kg on its own, but is actually 99 kg after the metal frame was added.

Wah, crazy! What do you guys think?

Will you be buying this unique piece of furniture if you have RM14,941 to spare?
